Neck tightness and shortness are typically related to each other, so if one is present, chances are the other is, too.

To determine your status, you can do a simple test called a static wrist test. As you move your hands in a circular motion towards each other, you want to observe any tightening up in your neck and shortness in your back. In order to find out your status, all you need to do is feel the tension and shortness in the neck and back.

The first thing you need to do is get a piece of paper and a pencil. Write down the following on your paper: your height, your weight, the way you move your neck, and your back and shoulders. There are some ways how you can move your neck and your shoulders. You can lift your hand slightly with both your fingers extended straight ahead. You can twist your neck with your shoulders sloping down. You can rotate your head, which I find to be the easiest way of moving your neck and shoulders. To do the test, you need to take a look at your shoulders and neck in the mirror. Stand in front of the mirror if you do not have one that does not distract your mind. Take time to check your shoulder joint alignment.

Do not lean your head to the side. Do not stretch or move your head from side to side. Stand with your shoulders aligned with the front edge of your shoulders. Stand with your shoulders aligned with the back edge of your shoulders. Now, take a look at your neck. You will notice that your neck is straight and tall, and your head is in a straight line with your shoulders. Your back is straight and tall. Let your shoulders relax in the back and you should be fine for today.
