Jump rope with a moderate amount of slack

Don't try to jump rope your back out, do the jump for a few seconds and then jump back, this will be much easier.

It could still be really hard and you'd have to be careful to not overdo it. As a professional trainer I would use the basic techniques I use for my customers. I would never think about using a double unders version of a rope ladder at that level.

They can be very dangerous to learn to climb or use due to the fact that they are used to make you strong enough to jump over tall fences, etc and not so strong as to be able to fall without breaking bones (not all jump roping is that simple!). Your instructor has taught you the ropes and therefore you should learn to pull them. We learn by example and I would suggest someone a little older than you be your teacher to teach you how to do it on your own. I would suggest using the same technique as you had under your belt when you were a kid. When you are ready to use a rope for your first jump (or for practice), start by just jumping with the rope to see where you can begin to apply the technique.

Some people like to use a tree branch, a tire, a fence post, etc. Don't overthink it because when you really try it out you'll figure out that you can always apply the basics to whatever object you are trying to jump over. If you're going to be jumping a rope, don't think of it as a normal workout. If you only do a rope workout, you'll never master it. I've worked for an amazing gym and to make training for sports fun I've found that it is important to have a good instructor.
